Hey Everyone!

This Sunday afternoon (12/09) we would like to invite everyone to get together at 12:30 after church for lunch at Los Amigos ( on Vaughn Road between Ridgecrest Church and the Atlanta Highway...close to Office Depot). This will give us some time to spend together before the holiday season gets busy and before we know it the New Year is here. I encourage you to invite friends from your various churches and come out for a time of lunch and fellowship with each other!

Tomorrow Night!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that a group of us are getting together tomorrow night at Shakespeare for a night of worship together as we begin the Christmas season and the year comes towards an end. We will be meeting at 7:00pm in front of the Theater there at Shakespeare. We would love for each of you to come out, join us, and bring your friends...be sure to bundle up the weather may be a little chilly!

If it is raining by any chance we will meet at Gateway Baptist Church at 7:00pm as our alternate location.

Look forward to seeing each of you again as we enter into the celebration season for the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ!

Just a reminder that we will be beginning back on a regular Tuesday night weekly schedule with the Grove starting tomorrow night.

Gino will be continuing teaching on life's questions and answers over the next two weeks. I think everyone there two weeks ago with Gino will agree it was a great time of learning about each other and God more while addressing the basic questions we all wonder about....so come out this week for more!

Grove Update

Hey Everyone! Just a reminder we will not be having the Grove this Tuesday night, however starting next Tuesday we will start meeting every week at 7:00pm at Gateway for the fall schedule. This next two weeks Gino will be finishing up his lesson from last week on "life's questions and answers" so be sure to join us!

Also as a fun reminder, this Thursday night the Symphony is playing their "Broadway Under the Stars" concert at Shakespeare. I believe it starts around 6:30 and should be great with the new cooler weather we have been having. We can all meet up there if anyone wants to go...last year several of us ran into each other there enjoying dinner outside and the music.

Grove - Summer Schedule!!!!!!!!!

This month starts our new Summer Grove Schedule! We are excited about the format and the energy getting us started for the month of May. We hope that you will get excited about the Grove and encourage your friends to come as well. The summer months will typically have three different types of gatherings. The first will be at Gateway with Alan Cross and then we will meet various locations (included in the schedule or upcoming emails) to apply and discuss the month's topic.

The month of May we will be discussing what it truly means to Love God in our lives and then in June we will be discussing the opposite of this: Greed and Selfishness.

Brantwood Children's Home - This Saturday we are meeting at Brantwood Children's home at 1:00 to spend some time hanging out and getting to know the kids there. As an FYI...the previous application passed out to the group is not needed for this Saturday and only needed if the children are taken off-site.

We will not be having The Grove for the next three weeks due to the upcoming Holidays. However next week a group will be getting together to go out to eat and hang out next Tuesday (12/19) night. Contact Chuck for additional details. We will also probably get a group together on the night of the 2nd to do something similar, but I will send out an email to let everyone know who to contact for that evening. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Years!

Community Service (James 2:14-26): Two weeks ago we had a representative from Brantwood come and speak to us about the children we will be spending time with as we volunteer with this organization. We are planning on spending a Saturday with the children the third weekend on January. Additional details will follow, but let us know if you are interested in attending and/or have any ideas of activities for us to do with the kids.
Brantwood Christmas Party - This Friday Brantwood is having there annual Christmas party for the public to come in and see the facilities. They have asked for volunteers to bring food or help serve food from 3-5 on Friday afternoon. Contact Lauren Breeding if you would like to send some food or come help out on Friday.

He has done a great job these past two weeks teaching / reminding us that God is always with us working for a purpose and we need to constantly praise him in our lives to prepare us to turn to him when the difficult circumstances come our way.

Three Practical Guidelines for Powerful Prayer

1. Be prepared to give God the best time of your day. Give God your undivided attention.

2. Purpose to experience a "balanced" prayer life. The five types of prayer communication are: Praise and Thanksgiving - Adoration and worship of God

Confession - Confession and seeking forgiveness

Petition - Presenting our individual needs and desires

Intercession - Focusing on the needs of others

Meditation - Reflecting on God's word and listening for his voice

3. Daily ask God to teach you to pray and provide a fresh encounter with him. (Luke 11)

Hello my friends! I hope everybody is having a good summer so far�
everything is going well here in Atlanta. I haven�t been playing much soccer
on the past weeks but I will give more information later. I would appreciate
if would pray with me that I will get the paper works ready as soon as
possible to go to Germany on that mission trip with the Christian Athletes.
This Tuesday at The Grove our topic is going to be missions still but on the
following two weeks Eddie Chambers is going to be speaking on Community.
Brooke is going to keep you posted about the schedule for July and I am
looking forward to speak sometime in August when I return. We are planning
on taking a group from The Grove to go on a trip to Mississippi this summer
to work with the Hurricane Katrina Relief. We have a place to stay and food
for a minimum cost. We would leave Friday after work and come back on Sunday
afternoon. If you are interested please get in touch with me, Chad Smith or
Chuck Adkinson and let us know when would be the best weekend during the
summer. Some people are also thinking about coming to Atlanta for a weekend
at Six Flags and Water Park! Check it out and join us!

ola amigos! how are you doing? things keep on going great here in Atlanta...
I started the first game in North Carolina on the 6th and we tied the 2nd
game in Nashville last Saturday. I will not be playing this weekend as
planned before... I will give you all more details later but if you are
planning on coming here this Saturday we can still go hang out for sure! I
am also planning on going to Montgomery for a visit at the end of this month
during Memorial Day holiday. Please let people from The Grove that were

hey everybody! I hope you all are doing good and pressing on... I had a
great time at North Point Community Church here in Atlanta the other night.
They have a ministry very similar to the Grove called 7:22 and the size of
the young adult fellowship I go to at Getsemani BC when I am in Brazil.
Around a thousand singles get together there every Tuesday night and the
message this week was related to the movie "Da Vinci Code" that is coming
out in few days at the movies. The book had a great impact in our society
and the movie now is also a very important issue! Therefore I decided to
send out this e-mail sharing about it as you probably have already heard
something from other sources as well. Voddie Baucham was the speaker and he
preached about the importance of knowing what we believe, why we believe and
being able to communicate it effectively. That�s a very crucial moment in
history for us to be real Christians in this capitalist world we live in. We
need to be equipped to fight the good fight of faith and be useful in Gods
hands to see what man intended for evil be turned into something good. I
believe that this movie will challenge us to grow in our knowledge of
scripture and give us opportunity to share our faith. Here are some

great tonight. I went to the singles ministry at North Point Community
Church in Atlanta this evening and I plan to make a report of it tomorrow on

Chuck Adkinson's dad. He just called me and said that his dad is going to
have an open-heart surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 6am. Please lets

News from Atlanta!

Hi guys! whats happening?!! everything is going well here in Atlanta... we
practiced twice a day this week and had our first exhibition game last
night. The score was 0X0 but it was a great game (remember; in soccer a game
can be awesome even without goals...)! Tonight we are leaving to North
Carolina where we play our first regular season game tomorrow night. There
are 2 other Brasilians on the team and one of them, Mateus, is a young
Christian and seems to be open for discipleship. Another guy called Eman, a
goalkeeper, also seems to be open for spiritual conversation. He told me
that he grew up going to church in Argentina but �gave up� on that on the
past years. The head coach also coaches in a Christian college so it makes
things a little easier for me to share my faith (praise God and thanks for
your prayers). Please pray for those guys and everybody else involved with
our team if you would. I am planning on visiting different churches around
town during this Summer. Hopefully you guys can come watch some of our
games. Our home opening is May 19th and our first game in the new stadium
that is been built is June 15th. You can check both home and away games�

Your prayers for Chuck�s Dad were very helpful. He is back at home
recovering with no serious heath problems.

I also wanted to remind you of our Grove meeting this Friday, 6:30pm, at our
house (103 Dunn Drive). Call me at (334)207-5442 for directions or with any
questions. We are going to order pizza afterwards and some people are
planning on still making it to the Mercy Me concert that night as well!

While at the Grove last night, Tuesday, 4/25/06, a man was murdered at a gas
station on Eastern Blvd. (The gas station just before nearing Wal-Mart.)
The man was shot several times between 7:30pm and 8:00pm, and left to die in
the gas station parking lot.

Please, Grove, let's send out a prayer for the slain man's family, for the
city of Montgomery, and for the lost soul's of this world. The murderer has
not been captured as of yet, but I pray for the safety of the city of
Montgomery.

Also, friends, please pray for my aunt, Bridgette Coleman, who has been
battling schizophrenia for over 15 years. She had been okay for the past 8
yrs. or so, but in the last 8 months she has gotten worse. She was released
from a home this past week for a trial run after being taken away by police
about 2-3 weeks ago. However, my grandmother and mother reports from
Mississippi that the medications are not helping as much as they are adding
to the madness. Please pray that she be delivered.

Chuck Atkinson just called me this morning and asked us to pray for his
dad... he had a bad injury on his knee and had to be taken to the emergency
room. He also has diabetes and this could be a serious thing. Lets join him

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who wrote a letter to my friend Wes.
I know he will be so excited to read them. Second, I would like to ask
again for another writing. I'm currently trying to collect FIFTY letters to
send to him by May 1st. I know that many of you are busy but I believe that
if my friend recieves FIFTY letters of encouragement from a bunch of
christians, that one just may touch his heart. That one could change his
entire life forever. So I ask you, Can you please take just a few moments
to write a short letter of encouragement. I've been told by a few people
that they didn't know what to say, so I figure I can write an example below
to give those who may struggle writing a letter of encouragement to a

Dear Wes,

I've heard about you through a friend of yours named Jason Beasley. He told
me that you are due to be released next year in March. Praise the Lord. I
also heard that you are a big Atlanta Braves fan, you may be dissappointed
but Chipper Jones strained his knee the other day on a bunt down the third
base line and he was hurt. He's been put on the DL for awhile, there still
doing good without him. They brought a guy up named Preston from Triple A
and he's doing awesome. I'm sure you are getting really excited to see your
family, friends and hear about all things that have been going on in the
last three years. I wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you and I
hope the Lord will keep you safe and in control while you live out your last
few months inside jail. I hope someday we can meet, for I have heard good
things about you. I heard you have a Bible, so when you get a chance read
Psalm 41, its a great passage. I remember when I was struggling so much with
being lonely and the Lord led me to this passage. After I read it and
prayed about it, I felt an overwhelming amount of joy fill up in my heart.
It was such a blessing to have the Lord love me so much. You know He loves
you too. Wes, it's been a pleasure and blessing writing you today. I hope
and pray that the Lord will come into your life and show the joy only He can

I sent out an email last week about Adams, one of my special kids from
work......We found out today that the tumor he had was benign & that he is
coming home to MOntgomery today...Praise God!!!! His physical therapists is
very optimistic about him getting full use back in all limbs so we have
gotten great news all around....Thank you all for your thoughts & prayers

Hello grove peoples!

Just a reminder about bowling this Thursday @ 9pm. We will be at Brunswick
Lanes on Carmichael Road. Shoes are $2 and each game is only $1!!!!
Usually I only end up paying $4 for the whole night.

Also, Bruno has invited everyone over to his house Friday night @ 6pm. He
lives on Dunn Dr., just behind Lee High School. Call him (334-207-5442) or
me (334-663-6646) if you need directions.

Lastly, don't forget about Trenholm Court. Sunday afternoon a group of us
will be going to share food and clothes with people in our area that are
much less fortunate that us.

These are encouraging words from our Lord. He spoke directly about the
relationship between helping those in need around us and serving Him. I
know that we all search for tangible ways for us to serve our King. This is
one of them.

what's up my friends?!! I hope everybody had a great Resurrection
Celebration... and I am sending this to remind you that Jason Beasley is
giving a report tonight about his mission trip to Africa last month. Also I
wanna let you know that Michael Gross, a friend of mine from Frazer UMC who
is on the cover of Montgomery' Journey Magazine this month, is coming to
speak at the Grove in May. He leads mission trips to Brazil during the
Summer to work on a orphanage. Me and Chuck had a meeting yesterday to go
over the schedule for this Summer. We believe that God has been leading us
into a series of Evangelistic messages at The Grove lately. Come to our next
meeting on the 28th if you wanna talk and pray more about that!

Hey guys! I just wanted to let everyone know about the Tabernacle replica
that is set up at St. James United Methodist Church....yeah yeah, I know
what you're thinking :) ---(On the corner of Vaughn, and Ryan Rd.) :) haha

I've been to it twice and it is GREAT! (esp. awesome to see before Easter!)
They have tour guides out there most of the time...but if you want to call
the church and request a time for someone to meet you there they will do
that also!

I believe it will be up through Sunday (April 16)...so if you have time I
would really encourage you to go out there and take some friends and family
:) Great experience!

Hey guys! I hope you all have had a fabulous day! As you all know Chris will
be leaving for Africa soon and he's going to be gone for a very long time. I
know he's sad to leave, but at the same time extremely excited. So, I want
to put together something special for him that he will be able to take with
him. I would love it of y'all could help me out. I thought it would be
encouraging for him if we could put together notes, letters, bible verses,
cards, pictures, anything like that and then put it all together in a
binder/photo album of some sort. I want to start working on it now so that
we can have plenty of time to get it done before he leaves. Whenever y'all
have something ready for me to put in the binder/photo album, just let me
know.
Bruno, I know I don't have everyone's e-mail address. Will you please e-mail
this to the people I don't have? Or you can just e-mail me their addresses
and I'll do it. Either way. Thanks.

What an awesome time we had last night at the Grove. We sang about turkeys (LOL) and began a 4 week series with Andrew Hicks on our earthly relationships in the light of Christ's Lordship. This week we truly learned from Linnie Dickson from Shepherd's Staff Ministries what true and undefiled religion (James 1:27) looks like in real life. He shared an amazing testimony of how God delivered him from decades of drug and alcohol abuse and how He is using Linnie and and his wife in ministring to broken families in some of the worst parts of our city. I sincerely hope we as a ministry can volunteer some time with this sometime soon.

Next week we are going to start a 4 week series on Dating and Courtship led by Andrew Hicks from Gateway Baptist Church. I've heard that Andrew is really going to hit this from the angle of how much we are submitted to the Lordship of Christ, but you'll have to come and check it out to see!

We will discuss proposed changes in the organization of the Grove and sign up leaders for functional areas. At the last meeting, the following was proposed:

1) The Tuesday night gathering should become deeper in biblical content. Speakers should be secured who are willing to do 3 or 4 week studies. Study topics can include basic biblical truth or they can be biblical perspectives on contemporary issues such as finance, dating, purity, etc. The goals of these deeper studies include: to deepen our knowledge of the Word, to strengthen our relationship to Christ, to equip us for personal growth, to equip us to spread the gospel.

2) The Tuesday night gathering should alter its time schedule and format as follows:

a) Continue 6:15 prayer time with emphasis on praying over that particular evening.
b) Start content (worship + study) promptly at 7 p.m.
c) Continue worship to open and close but, in general, find one or two persons to simply get up and lead us in worship more often than we have an outside band come in. That is not to say that we cannot have bands but let’s strive to have worship led by those within our group rather than those from without. We also need at least two people to be responsible for the worship area of the Grove (more info below).
d) Begin bible study approximately 7:15 and conclude around 8 ish.
e) Fellowship time will be from 8 to approximately 8:30 leaving all tables, snacks, etc. in place until that time to encourage hanging out.
f) Begin take down at 8:30

3) Beyond the Grove activities should become more varied than just a Saturday night meal. Of course, this will be primarily up to the members of the Grove who have a heart for fellowship to provide varied opportunities for our members to get together and build and/or strengthen relationships. In addition, it should be made clear that Beyond the Grove activities are totally optional and no one should feel pressured to attend. Such pressure on members of the Grove to attend Beyond the Grove activities will not be tolerated. The idea of these gatherings is to give people an opportunity to fellowship without a formal time frame or structure. These gathering times are also excellent opportunities to bring non-Christian friends to an informal gathering where they can build relationships with other Grove members that may lead them to join our Tuesday night fellowship.

4) More leadership is needed. Over recent weeks, with the departure of Stephen See and Blake Harrison, leadership has fallen to just a few people. We need to assemble teams of at least 2 people for each key functional area. These teams need to accept full responsibility for their areas for each Grove gathering. If the leaders cannot fulfill their duties for a given gathering, they must find others to fill in. Accountability, commitment, and consistency are key. Leadership teams of at least 2 people are needed for each of the following areas: Worship, Speakers/Content, Set Up/Atmosphere, Take Down, Powerpoint, Faciltator (i.e. intro, announcements, intro worship, intro content, closing, overall flow), Prayer

Meet at 9 a.m. at the Swayback Bridge Trail in Wetumpka for hiking.
According to the reviews, this is a medium difficulty trail – whatever that means!
Lunch afterwards at a nearby BBQ restaurant.
Then, head up to Lake Jordan for swimming and boating in the afternoon.
Dinner @ Lakeview marina (if we don’t have a huge crowd) or a pizza run.

Directions to the Swayback Bridge Trail:
Located North of Montgomery, Al. Take US231 North from Montgomery through Wetumpka. You will cross highway 14 and go 3.4 miles to the turn to Jordan Dam and YMCA Camp Chandler. This is old 231 and you can only turn left. You will go 2.4 miles down old 231 till you see a turnoff to the dam and the camp. Look for reddish Sign - SWAYBACK BRIDGE TRAIL. Travel 100 yards to the trailhead. It is a short (70yd) dirt road that connects old 231 and the road to the dam. The trail starts just off of old 231. If you cross the swayback bridge you have gone too far.

Attendance has really fallen off. Leadership is dwindling in number. Week to week coordination is getting less and less consistent. Overall enthusiasm and commitment seem low. Is it just the summer break or something more?

Also, we still have stage space we are giving in exchange for business donations of $500 or more. 3 feet of stage space is available as well as mentioning in our “day of event” program. Please contact businesses you know and extend this advertising opportunity to them.

Beyond the Grove - July 14, 2005

Thanks to Allison and Christen and the young ladies that came and presented us with Christ centered skits this past week. It was very interesting and very moving. Also, the Will Sledge Band did another great job in leading worship.

Y'all help out Milkshake Mandy with food service over the next couple of weeks. I am going to be very late next week and the out on Tuesday the 26th so she'll have it basically solo both nights. I just hope she doesn't bump me completely out of a job :).

Look for a Faith Radio interview on the Grove and Grove Fest coming up on August 8th between 4 and 6. There may also be some pieces of the interview between now and then.

Hello again, BPC here! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I certainly enjoyed the long weekend. As expected, our Grove attendance was a little down Tuesday night due to the holiday but we had a great time of worship led by Summer Whatley and a message on self control by Stuart Davidson. Also, we had the Double Chuck milkshakes! If you missed one of those, you really missed out.

Hello Again! This past Saturday, the Grove helped out with Habitat for Humanity here in Montgomery. 11 folks showed up Saturday morning to help put on vinyl siding, prepare for sheet rock inside, and install some insulation in interior walls. We learned a little and had lots of fun. We also figured out who can hammer a straight nail and who can't (I can't for one!). If you missed it, be on the look out for the next one. Also, if anyone is interested in getting another Habitat group together, see Chuck C. (that's me!) for the easy to handle details.

I hope everyone is getting excited about Grove Fest. It is now only 46 days away! Wow! Advertising is going well but we need help with taking letters to churches and with fund raising. Fund raising is critical as we already have some uncovered expenses and we have more expenses on the way! See Chuck C. for more info on how to help!

Good day! I hope everyone is planning on coming by the Grove tonight. I know the Holy Spirit is going to show up and that is something you don't want to miss. I am looking forward to hearing reports of the Ocoee trip this past weekend. If anyone has one to post, let me know. I heard it was a blast.

The number one focus of the Grove right now is Grovefest. If you've not heard, this will be a FREE outdoor concert we'll (that's right WE) be putting on for August 13, 2005. Please get on board if you have not already. We need bunches of volunteers and folks to step up into leadership of a particular area such as parking, security, groundskeeping, day of event management and more. Deann Weston has prepared a fund raising letter for our circle of friends and businesses. We need to start getting some funds as we are already spending. Please help.

Stop! In the Name of Love!

If you don't get that reference, you missed one fun lake party this past weekend. A little over a dozen Grove members invaded Titus Alabama for a fun, rainy weekend. Even through it rained quite a bit, that did not stop the festivities. In fact, in many ways it enhanced things. I personally marveled at the beauty of God's creation sitting under the deck in the cool morning with the rain gently tapping on the roof. God is so good, even on rainy days! By the way, if you ask me about "turtles", "Celebrate", "CIA Frogmen with spear guns", "Elephigators","the Big House", "the Egyptian Mystery game", "Summer Magic", or "early moons", I'll have to say "I cannot recollect!".

Inner Tubing, 2 boats, nice swimming area, rock jumping, rope swing nearby, water volleyball.
When the sun goes down, the party doesn’t stop. Karaoke for the brave at heart!
Stay the night if you like (camp out or in).
There’s nothing like Paw Paw’s breakfast on a crisp morning on the deck at the lake.
More water fun on Monday.

Open Mic Night was Spirit Filled!

Wow! Another fantastic display of the Holy spirit at work this past Tuesday! If you missed it, you missed a blessing. Once again, we did not have a full agenda of speakers scheduled as we left the mic open for people to share their hearts. 4 people in all shared and it was incredibly heartfelt and powerful. The Holy Spirit is truly at work at the Grove.

Grove Fest Organizational Meeting

Wow! Wow! Wow! Open Mic Night was incredible this past Tuesday. We had a plan for the night with Chuck and Russell sharing but the Holy Spirit had more in store. After they finished sharing their hearts with us, the Lord called others to share even more. The Lord's presence and guidance was definitely in our midst.

Don't miss another chance to see our awesome Lord and Savior at work at the Grove!

We know the Lord is also going to work through Grove Fest that is coming up on August 13. An organizational meeting has been set for May 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. The location: Chuck Crews' house at 6807 Eastern Ct (off Wares Ferry in the Eastern Oaks subdivision). Come prepared to develop the vision of Grove Fest and get things rolling on the organization of the whole event. After this meeting, we'll only have 3 months to get this together so we need to get moving.

Beyond the Grove this week meets at Moe's on Zelda Road at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night (May 7). Be there or be square!

Habitat for Humanity is set for Saturday, June 25. Please sign up as we need 20 to 25 folks to make this happen. No experience necessary, just a desire to serve.

Another Great Grove Tuesday has come and gone. For those of you who might not have recognized them, some of those songs were actually hymns (though still done in a contemporary fashion so don't panic)! Great worship once again!

We are currently planning our first big Grove Fest Planning meeting. Be on the lookout for a date and time. We have to get the ball rolling on this event if we want it to be all it can be.

Here's Stephen See's report on the Singles BBQ:

We had about 100 singles from all over the city, Vaughn Forest, Eastmont, First Baptist, Frazer...We have fantastic beef brisket, a bunch of door prizes, Daniel (of the grove) got a Frisbee...Which we must use in an upcoming game of ultimate!
The Wil Sledge Band of Taylor Road led us in great worship. Stephen See then shared that the Lord is in the seasons of our life and we need to live each season to the fullest! The Lord wants our life not to be a single note or even a solo but wants it to be the perfect part of the symphony he has written. For this to happen we must often wait for our cue. To come in too early or late, will mess up the masterpiece. He doesn’t want our fruit to be bitter because we bear it out of season, he wants us to have the full harvest! Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart (Ps 37:4), but remember the man the delights in the Lord will bear his fruit in season! (Ps 1:4-5) So we need to trust, wait and enjoy the season we are in!!!

If you missed the BBQ, don't miss tonight's Grove. Stephen See is our speaker and will continue pointing us to Christ.

If you missed this past Tuesday, you missed a passionate discussion of missions with particular emphasis on Venezuela. Christen Coleman did an excellent job with presentation and table talk and many people were moved and inspired. Indeed, we are all missionaries of the Gospel. Summer Whatley lead our singing and it was also heartfelt and stirring. Don't miss another Tuesday night gathering! Every week, the Lord is present and many new faces come into our fellowship!

There will be flyers available tonight. Please take a flyer if you know someone that might desire to experience abundant life through the Grove. One-on-one advertising has been and continues to be our ideal method of getting the word out. Your personal testimony of how God has been meeting us in all aspects of the Grove is a valuable resource for drawing others to our gatherings. And, of course, please continue to pray that the Grove will become only that which God desires it to be.

Elvis is going to tell us how he faked his death so he could become a missionary to China. He'll reveal how he tells folks "they ain't nothin' but a hound dog", but that it's not "heartbreak hotel" thanks to Christ. He'll explain how Jesus wants "to be your teddy bear" and pull you out from "in the ghetto". He'll elaborate on how doing it "my way" doesn't work and only leaves you a donut and drug addict and busted on a "jailhouse rock". And, he'll give his spectacular testimony on "amazing grace" and how "the King" has yielded his life to THE King of Kings.

Seeking God simply for Who He is

Last night, if you missed the Grove, you missed another God centered gathering. Our night started with a great prayer gathering at 6:15. Prayer is essential! During our gathering, Stephen See did a wonderful job pointing us to who our awesome God is. We looked at his beauty, his power, and his love and realized how indescribable and immeasurable He is! Wow! And, He send his only Son to die on the cross specifically for you and for me. Wow! We also had a great time of musical worship with a band from First Baptist. Awesome! Of course, there was the usual great food and fellowship to round out the evening. Don't miss another gathering.

Beyond the Grove:

Friday - come out to 301 Dexter Avenue at the Dexter Avenue Methodist church for ballroom dancing. Lessons begin at 6:30 and dancing goes from 7:30 until about 10:30. This is a no smoking, no drinking party and you don't need a partner because there are plenty of good dancers around. Admission is $5. Contact Chuck C. at 233-4249 for more information.

This Saturday, Beyond the Grove meets at Moe's in East Chase at 6:30. Contact Chuck at 657-6159 if you need more information. Be there or be square!

Also Saturday, Jessica Johnson invites all the ladies to her house at 7:30 p.m. Being a man, I don't know the secret ladies handshake so I don't know the details of what will be going on. And, if any lady told me any details, I'd have to be KILT! So, if you need more information or need to know where the gathering will be, contact Jessica at 467-7201. Have fun ladies!

Finally, on March 14, we are having a meeting at my house (6807 Eastern Ct off Wares Ferry) at 6:30. This will be an organizational meeting. Please bring a snack or a 2 liter drink of your choice.

Hola from behind the coffee machine! BPC here. You've heard the news, now you're going to hear.... the .. rest.. of.. the .. story!

Get ready for an exciting few days for Beyond the Grove activities in preparation for even more excitement for the Grove in the upcoming weeks and months!

This Friday, March 4, 2005, come on down to 301 Dexter Avenue to Dexter Avenue Methodist Church for Ballroom Dancing. Under the Dexter Avenue Methodist Church, there is a non-smoking, non-drinking, snacks available dance hall. Lessons begin at 6:30 (I have no idea what they are teaching but they usually teach the basics of some ballroom dance). The dance then goes from 7:30 until about 10:30. Even if you don't know how to dance, just watching can be entertaining and there are plenty of good dancers there that can give a lesson. Admission is a bargan at $5 and drinks and snacks sell for about 50 cents each. Contact me, Chuck, at 233-4249 for more information. P.S. You don't need a partner, there are plenty of folks there to dance with.

This Saturday, Beyond the Grove goes to Wingers (in the Bell Road Bruno's shopping center) at 6:30. Contact Chris for more information at 657-4270. After Wingers, I propose we all get our bibles and go bible thump some Wiccans. I'll bring the holy water Molotov cocktails! Or, maybe we'll just go to a movie or something. In any case, if you don't come, you won't know what we are doing!

Beyond the Grove - Week of February 21 to 27

Last night at the Grove was game night! If you missed it, you missed tons of fun. We had a good crowd with games like MOODS, Scrabble, Madden on the XBOX, cards, and more. Next week, we'll have C.J. Falcione come and speak to us.

This week's Beyond the Grove gathering will be at Blue Burrito at 6 pm on Saturday night.

Also, several folks seem interested in a GroveFest outdoor event sometime in late Spring or Early Summer. However, we need someone who really has interest to jump up and lead the way on this. Initial ideas have been to have a series of bands/artists along with maybe some other outdoor activities. If you volunteer to be the director of GroveFest, you'll get unlimited free cappuccinos at each Grove gathering ;)! How can you pass that up?

Feel free to come up with as many Beyond the Grove activities as you like. The Grove is ours to make of it what we will (and what God wills, of course). The possibilities are endless because God is behind the wheel!

WOW! Don't miss another Grove Gathering!

If you missed last night's Grove, you missed something special. Jamie Culpepper came and spoke to us on what it means and what it takes to be a true disciple of Christ. The message was great but it was what happened next that was really wonderful. Jamie sat down on the steps of the stage and opened the floor for discussion. Many people shared their thoughts, opinions, and experiences and the spirit of community that we have been yearning for came upon the whole place. It felt like we were all sitting around a campfire and sharing out hearts with each other. That is what the Grove is meant to be - a place where young people can come and build each other up, encourage one another, exhort one another, and love one another. And even more importantly, do all this in the name of Christ and for the glory of Christ. That vision became a reality last night and the spirit of the risen Lord filled the Grove. He is doing a new thing. Don't miss another Grove or you'll never understand how "taking it to the house on a Murray bicycle" can lead to the spirit of God flowing over people.

Beyond the Grove this week happens at Wings Sports Grille on Saturday night at 6. Then, the group will likely go to the Nova 8 for a movie. Contact Blake Harrison at 657-1785 for more information.

Next week at the Grove is game night. Bring your favorite games and come prepared to have mucho fun while riding high on caffeine.

Ultimate Frisbee anyone! Blake Harrison is trash talking about being "all that" at the best college game ever invented! But no one knows if he has what it takes. Let’s get a crew together, and meet at Shakespeare and make him prove it. Its low impact, good exercise and even better ... it’s a blast. If you’re interested call Stephen See at 313-1869 or sign up at the Grove. We’ll pick a date based on general agreement from those interested, then we’ll publicize it!

BEYOND THE GROVE

No, it's not some trip to the fortune teller. Beyond the Grove is simply folks who have met through the Grove getting together outside our normal gathering times. But, it's a cool name, ya think?

This week, Beyond the Grove gathers at Atlanta Bread at 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 5. After dinner, a movie or Marble Slab might be in store. Also, if anyone has any idea for a Super Bowl party, Big Poppa Chuck will be glad to come by and eat your hot wings as long as you have Tums on stand by. Seriously, if anyone is interested in gathering for the Super Bowl, post to the Blog and we'll see if we can get together. A place with a big screen TV and plenty of recliners is preferred.

Otherwise, Cya next Tuesday at the Grove.

February at the Grove

We are continuing to gather on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 at Gateway (3300 Bell Road). Come on by and check us out. Also, as I mentioned in the last post, anyone who is interested is invited to come early and participate in corporate prayer and/or organization of the Grove. A few of us get to Gateway by 6 or a little before to help with set up. Also, we gather for corporate prayer at 6:15. We can never have too many people praying.

There are several areas where folks can get involved in "cultivating" the Grove. Assistance is needed in the areas of small group discussion, art procurement, set up, take down, and food and beverage. If any of these areas seem interesting, contact anyone involved in those areas or post a comment here.

Please give feedback on our weekly gatherings and any thoughts you may have on what the Lord is doing or may do with the Grove.

Beyond the Grove

A few more than 15 folks met at Big Poppa Chuck's House this past Saturday night for games. I think that great fun was had by all. Plus, a few snacks went down the hatch. Though we were accused of bending the rules a little (perhaps a deserved accusation), the guys whomped the ladies in Scene It, Jr. Ladies, you better represent at the next game night. But, if you don't know the names of the three Powerpuff Girls or the name of their town, you might not be able to hang!

We plan to continue getting together outside our Tuesday night gatherings for various opportunities to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. If you have any ideas or suggestions or want to get involved with Beyond the Grove, post a comment or contact someone at the Grove.

In addition to Saturday gatherings of Beyond the Grove, several folks are still getting together after our Tuesday gathering at places like Chik-Fil-A.
